Our Mission

In our culture, we have always known how children learn best. Not from a textbook. Not from only being told to sit still and listen. But by watching. By doing. By storytelling. By being trusted to touch, to try, and to discover. Our grandmothers taught us to cook by letting us cook. Our grandfathers taught us to build by letting us build. That is not a new idea. That is our idea. It has always been.

Kujenga Children's Discovery Center is built on that same truth. Uganda is a country of young people — nearly half of our population is under the age of fifteen. And yet, too many of those young people are growing up on the precipice of hope, wondering: do I have a say? Do I matter? What does my future look like?

We cannot answer that question with words alone. We have to build the answer. This is not a foreign idea being imported into Uganda. This is us — finally giving a name and a home to something we have always believed. That children learn by doing. That community is built in the spaces where we first discover we belong to something larger than ourselves. That when a child is trusted with their own curiosity, they become the kind of adult who builds a nation.

Our Vision

“When a child is trusted with their own curiosity, they become the kind of adult who builds a nation.”
